After yesterday’s announcement of President Ramaphosa the ban on alcohol sales is finally lifted and we are trying hard to move our stock! You can help us by ordering online – and by entering the discount code DRINK@HOMEAGAIN you receive a 10 percent discount.
Whilst hopefully now emptying our cellar we are again also re-filling it. Harvest has started on 28 January and our team was excited to bring in the first of our Pinotage which is now already bubbling in our huge open cement fermenters. Due to some most welcome cool days on Lammershoek we so far only have continues with the Marianne and some of our best Chenin – especially harvested for our straw wine.
The grapes are now lying on straw for the next three to four weeks before we then press them – you can imagine that there won’t be much juice left – but what we still get out of it will result in our amazing Straw wine.
The year began with the ban of alcohol sales – a hard hit again on us being quite vulnerable due to the effects of the pandemic on our industry – but as we stated end of the year already: we are not willing to give up!
So we started the year with bottling some of our precious wines and preparing for some orders to go overseas. And we had the cellar in mint condition and everything well prepared so harvest would go as smooth as possible.
The grapes are looking amazing and we hope to be blessed and be able to bring them all in at the right time in outstanding condition and quality.
Cheers to your health – stay safe and sound!
